Fertilisers are a core part of the Montage book. We move crop nutrients from the regions that produce them to the importers, distributors and blenders that supply farmers, working to the planting calendar rather than the shipping calendar.
Fertiliser demand arrives in waves. A cargo that lands after the application window has lost most of its value to the buyer, so the desk plans backwards from the season: tonnage fixed in time, documentation ready, and financing sized to the cycle rather than to a single shipment.
Where a counterparty needs more than product, the structured trade and finance desk can add working capital or a payment structure to the transaction, so that a seasonal programme is not held up by liquidity.
